Northwestern’s Nursing Program Ranks Among Top Ten in State

WINSTED, CT – CT State Community College Northwestern is proud to announce their nursing program ranked among the top ten in Connecticut by RegisteredNursing.org, a national organization whose rating criteria involves reviewing the percentage of graduates who pass the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), which is required for graduates to practice. The organization’s program reviews included Connecticut schools offering associate, bachelor, and master degree programs. Out of the twenty-two programs in the state, Northwestern ranked tenth.

2024 Top Ranked Nursing Schools“Since graduating its first class of nurses in 2012, Northwestern’s graduates have consistently had a licensure pass rate above the national norm,” said Connie Hotchkiss, Northwestern’s Division Director for Nursing, Allied Health, and Veterinary Technology. “The community college nursing program is an affordable pathway into the nursing profession and perfectly positions students to continue their educational journey.”

Northwestern’s nursing program is unique within the CT State campus system as it offers students an accelerated eighteen-month course of study consisting of four consecutive semesters. Students are admitted in January and then graduate in May of the following year. A graduate of the program is awarded an associate in science degree and is then eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam.
