Northwestern to Hold Touch-A-Truck Event

Winsted – The Early Childhood Education student club at CT State Northwestern will host a Touch-A-Truck event on Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Arts and Science Building parking lot, 209 Holabird Avenue, Winsted. Parking for attendees will be located at Greenwoods Hall, 119 North Main Street. The event is free and open to the public although donations will be accepted, including non-perishable food items to be donated to Northwestern’s Food For Thought student food pantry, and monetary donations for the Northwestern Student Emergency Fund.

Touch a truckVehicles available on-site will include fire engines, police cars, plow trucks, motorcycles, quads, and more.

The Rotary Club of Torrington and Winsted areas is sponsoring the event and has committed a generous donation to the event fundraising.

The Northwestern Student Emergency Fund was established in 2016 with funding support from the Northwestern Community College Foundation and private donations to assist students with emergency financial needs. The Food for Thought food bank was created on campus in 2017 for students with food insecurities. Combined, these assistance programs have served more than five hundred students in need.
