CT State Northwestern Presents Core Ensemble Music Theater Production
Winsted – CT State Community College Northwestern is pleased to present Los Valientes – The Courageous Ones, a chamber music theatre performance produced by the Core Ensemble, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at noon in the Founders Hall Auditorium, 2 Park Place, Winsted. The event is free and open to the public.
Los Valientes – The Courageous Ones with solo actor & pianist is performed in three sets and explores the artistic and political passions of Mexican painter Diego Rivera, the unwavering commitment to human rights of Salvadoran Archbishop Oscar Romero, and the pursuit of social justice by Mexican American desperado Joaquin Murrieta aka Zorro.
Actor Victor Vazquez has a degree in Theatre Performance from Marymount Manhattan College and has performed a wide variety of roles in productions ranging from Rent to MacBeth. He has performed in cabaret settings at The Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center and on off-Broadway, as well as in voiceover media and podcasts. He is also a proficient rapper and guitarist.
Pianist Mikael Darmanie has performed throughout the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean. He has won prizes in regional and international competitions; festival appearances have included High Peaks Festival, Pianofest, Mozarteum, Mainly Mozart, and L’Acadèmie de Musique de Sion. As a member of the Warp Trio, Darmanie performs throughout the country in music genres including jazz, hip hop, electronic, as well as DJ’ing. Since his debut as a conductor with the Carolina Chamber Symphony in 2008, he has performed throughout the country, conducting various piano concerti from the keyboard and symphonic works. As a composer, his works have been performed throughout the country as well.
This event is offered in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and is generously supported by the Northwestern Community College Foundation.
