Benefits

Health Insurance - Medical

Each of the two (2) medical plans offered by the State of Connecticut is designed to cover the same medical benefits – the same services and supplies. The amount you pay out of pocket at the time you receive services is very similar. However, the payroll deduction varies for each plan.

The State of Connecticut offers the following medical insurance plans:

For Non-Union Employees Only: Public Act 16-3, Section 115 requires that non-union employees pay up to 18 percent of the total premium share for their medical coverage. This law does not affect premiums for dental coverage. The new medical premium shares are effective October 1, 2016. Please refer to the flyer for rates: Medical Premiums for Non-Union Employees

Health Insurance - Dental

Dental insurance is offered through CIGNA where you have the opportunity to choose from 3 plans: 1) Basic, 2) Enhanced or 3) DHMO.

The Health Enhancement Program (HEP)

When you and all of your enrolled family members participate in HEP, you will pay lower monthly premiums with no deductibles for in-network care during the plan year. If you don't enroll in HEP, your premiums will be $100 higher per month. You'll also have an annual $350 per individual ($1,400 per family) in-network medical deductible. If one of you has one of five chronic conditions identified you may also receive a $100 payment, provided you and all enrolled family members comply with HEP requirements. You also save money on prescription drugs to treat that condition.

Employee and Family Assistance Program (EAP)

This FREE and confidential service is offered to all employees and their families through Solutions. The service offers counseling and referrals as well as information about life or work issues. For more information visit Solutions EAP.

The State of Connecticut also offers a number of supplemental benefit options to save on life insurance, short-term disability insurance, auto and home insurance, retirement, etc. To learn more about these supplemental benefits, view the Employee Benefits Guide.
